Bow-Back can be made with bracing spindles.
Referring to history, pattern technology and design, the bow-back was originally made in England and then, in the 1780s, in Philadelphia during the federal period.
New York chair makers began making bow-backs in the mid-1780s. Bow-back arm-chairs from New York are particularly rare, suggestive of they may have been research that led to the continuous-arm.
The history says that the bow-back arm-chairs were also made in Southern New England. (Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts).
